Hi, I’m Maya! I’m a 16-year-old high school student in the UK. I am currently studying for my A-Levels and am taking further math, math, biology and chemistry. I’ve always loved STEM and any field that challenges me and has scope for innovation. I love participating in biology and math competitions that allow me to widen my understanding of my subjects beyond the curriculum.
Sports are a big part of my life too and I play both tennis and netball competitively, as well as having been a ball girl at Queen's tennis championship, all of which keep me active and have allowed me to make lasting friendships.
Outside of my studies, I love to bake, pick up my electric guitar or watch a movie with my parents!
Hi, I’m Mira! I’m a 16-year-old student from the U.S. with a passion for STEM. My favorite subjects are math, physics, and biology. I’m also taking engineering at school, where I’ve been working on a year-long project that’s really helped me dive deeper into hands-on problem-solving and innovation.
Outside the classroom, I run track and compete in the 200m, 400m, and relays, which keeps me active and always striving to push my limits. I also love hanging out with friends and randomly experimenting in the kitchen!
In the future, I hope to major in biomedical engineering and use science and technology to make a real impact.
We are really excited to spearhead this cause in honor of our grandmother who has instilled the value of education in us.
Our inspiration
We decided to start this non-profit organisation having seen the profound lack of resources in a school very close to our grandmother’s house in Coorg, India. She completed her PhD at a time when women faced adversity when pursuing higher education which led her to champion the access to education for all, regardless of socioeconomic or gender barriers. After seeing her strive for the education of all throughout her life, we decided to continue our grandmother’s legacy by starting this non-profit to help children in need. We’ve been privileged to have easy access to a great education in schools with excellent resources and opportunities and would love to be able to provide a similar pathway to success for underprivileged children and low-income families in India.
Though we did not have the opportunity to get to know our grandfather, this mission was equally important to him and we hope to make them both proud.
